I have been meaning to compile a list of my favorite bike routes in the Massif Central (Limousin and Auvergne) for quite some time - I have finally pulled out my finger and created this blog, which I intend to update frequently - I hope you find it useful and manage to get out and ride some of them.
Download an E-Book of the routes described on these pages for £9.99. The e-book is an A4 Pdf file which has turn by turn directions for those who prefer paper and download links to satellite navigation files for those who use Garmin (Mapsource) and Tom Tom (Itinery Files) or if you would just like to see the sites using Google Earth to plan their routes you will find them all in this E-Book.
Purchase your Copy of the DiY Tours E-Book - You will be taken to the download page once payment has been taken save the page to your favorites for updates of the e-book
Biking is in my blood I was introduced to bikes from an early age by my father who like most Lads" in the 50's/60's relied on bikes as their only means of transport and the image it portrayed (Rock 'n' Roll)
This was realised whilst at Bovington in my teens (this is where Wendy and I first met) where I made use of a F1SE 50cc moped which we used to ride over the Tank Ranges.
After joining the Royal Marines I purchased my first bike, a Green Honda CB250G for £360 off a mate, I fell off within 100 yards after I was distracted by a pigeon, my first crash...
I went on to complete a Royal Marines Despatch Riders course in 1978 learning a great deal about riding bikes on and off road.
I have toured Europe extensively since 1989 and also toured Southern India on a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 as well as riding to Southern Turkey for charity.
The sense of freedom, the open roads, the fresh air, and the challenge of riding distances and battling the weather are all part of the thrill.
We now own a modest B&B in the Correze accommodating Motorcyclists and offering guided tours of the Central Massif. www.ridersrest.net
